In the first place, why the heck should I care what these people - who obviously know very little about computers - choose? Most of the people I know take the trouble to ask friends (like me) who know more about computers, so they can make an informed choice that doesn't depend on cost alone.
If you offered me free money to buy a computer, and I couldn't afford the Mac I wanted because of the budget you artificially set, then I'd probably also buy a PC too - then donate it to charity or sell it.
